During a real estate transaction you may be required to collect a water sample if the property has water provided from a well. Typically, the lender from the loan process is requiring the testing. Depending on the type of loan that is being used will dictate what specific tests need to be analyzed.
The most common test that all loans require is the Total Coliform/E. Coli by method SM9223B. The test results are either Absent (not found) or Present (found).
Turn around time: 1-2 days. Results by the end of the following day.
The second most commonly requested testing bundle is the Total Coliform/E.Coli, Nitrate, Nitrite, and Lead. The nitrate, nitrite, and lead will all have a quantitative value with an EPA maximum level.
Turn around time: Nitrate/Nitrite - 2-3 days, Lead -up to one week. Rush is available.
